engi:
When I was younger, I used to watch lots of TV; specifically a timeblock on Cartoon Network called Toonami. They aired anime most of the time and was hosted by a fictitious character named TOM (Toonami Operations Module), a robot that stewarded the space ship Absolution and presumably broadcasted these shows from outer space.
Toonami ran for the better of 10 years during my childhood. In retrospect, what I appreciated most about Toonami was the pure quality of the production and how it was presented to audiences. They would release promotional videos for Toonami like this one in 2000, called Space is the Place. After I saw it for the first time, I said to myself, “I want to go to space.”
And after all this time, making it to space is still at the top of my list.
