Inverse, comprised of the hip hop duo Toby Ganger and Tunji Balogun, released this debut video back in July 2009. It’s difficult to find many hip hop artists that avoid the negativity and monotony that is typical of mainstream hip hop. Not only that, but they’ve collaborated with some of my favorite hip hop artists, like Cunninglyinguists and Substantial.

Based out of L.A. and freshly signed to Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label. She stopped me in my tracks when I heard her mixing several of her songs together on this week’s M.A.H., and while I snipped only this segment from the broadcast as a taster, it is magical all the way through.

I made a post about TOKiMONSTA last year when I first found and fell in love with her music. I went out of my way to buy her LP, which can only be purchased from a hip hop store in Japan because I was so enraptured. Unfortunately we haven’t met each other yet, even though I’ve showed up to some of her performances around Los Angeles and exchanged greetings with her on MySpace. When I do, though, I’m going to have her sign the LP I bought.

This remix group always does an excellent job at remixing songs that are already very good. They seem to enjoy Nujabes, Shing02 and other Hydeout Productions artists as much as I do.
